New England Morning
On a cold and gray New England Morning
Limitless, my love for thee
I’m awakened from a dream enchanted
Pirates sailing on the sea
As we sail across the dark blue waters
Mistiness becomes my breath
While a maiden, fair of form and virtue
In her kingdom far so sweetly rests
She has watched the rivers run
She has kissed the morning sun
But she dreams of knights in shining armour
New adventures, life in far-off lands
And she longs to find her one true love
Her handsome prince to take her hand
Who will be the one to win her honour
Be her sanctuary, shield her heart
As she gazed unto the constellations
Made a wish upon a shooting star
It’s been a fortnight out at sea
And at times it seems to me
That I’m drifting aimlessly
Well, a pirate’s life’s a wondrous voyage
Plundered castles, pillaged palaces
While the spoils of victory’s price we pay for freedom
Is our loneliness
I remember one fair maiden calling softly
Gently across the sea
The midnight sky revealed her secrets
And her voice, so tender cried to me
“I have never seen the world,
And I’m such a lonely girl.”
So we turned and steered our vessel
Straightway to her land to conquer all
And there I found my Sleeping Princess
Seven candles burning in the hall
I apologise for my offences
Reckless, tho’ my nature be
But to gaze upon such sacred splendour
Never could I waken thee
And I loved her helplessly
And she vanished instantly
And that night I felt so simply awfully tired
Of being me
On a cold a gray New England Morning
Limitless, my love for thee
I awakened to the morning’s madness
With an angel lying next to me
On a cold a gray New England Morning
Limitless, my love for thee
I awakened to the sound of angels
A pirate’s life is not for me
